Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)

LDF FolderSupplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are used to provide more detail and information about policies and proposals found in Development Plan Documents (DPDs). Although SPDs are not part of the statutory Development Plan, they do however form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), and are therefore an important consideration in determining planning applications.

SPD's can cover a range of issues and can be based on a particular theme (like affordable housing) and/or on a particular area (like a Conservation Area). They must be consistent with national and regional planning policy, as well as the other documents in the LDF.

The Council has produced five SPDs so far. Each one has been through public consultation and has been adopted by the Council. They are material considerations that can be taken into account when determining a planning application.
