Proposals Map

The Proposals Map is a document which contains various maps of the District. These maps show the locations where different land use policies in the Local Development Framework (LDF) apply. It is made up of an Ordnance Survey base map and covers things such as:

  • Housing, mixed use and employment sites
  • Nationally designated areas such as AONBs and SSSIs
  • Scheduled Monuments
  • Hazardous installations
  • Conservation Areas, Historic Battlefields and Parks and Gardens
  • Green Belt
  • Town Centre and Retail Areas

For areas like towns and villages, more detailed inset maps are provided, showing the policies at a scale which makes them easier to understand.

The Proposals Map is not a stand alone document but instead forms part of other LDF Development Plan Documents (DPDs), namely the Development Policies DPD and Allocations DPD.

Apart from the Core Strategy, each time a DPD is revised, so too is the Proposals Map. The first Proposals Map was adopted as part of the Development Policies DPD in February 2008. It was replaced in December 2010 with the Adoption of the Allocations DPD. The Proposals Map is found at Annex 5 of both DPDs.
