Good Practice Guide - sustainable planning and design
Sustainable planning and design is one way of contributing to sustainable development in the District. To raise the profile of sustainability in the District and provide a useful tool for planning practitioners, architects, developers and individuals the Council has developed a Good Practice Guide. The Guide contains a wide range of information on the principles and practice of sustainable planning and design and provides details of specialist websites which contain further detailed information on related subject areas.
Hambleton District Council is currently preparing a new Local Development Framework to replace the existing District Wide Local Plan. The Framework is likely to be adopted in 2007. After this time a number of Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) will be prepared, including one on Sustainable Development. Once adopted these will be used to assist in the determination of planning applications. The Good Practice Guide can be used as a useful point of reference in the interim period.
