Local Agenda 21
As a result of the Earth Summit it was a requirement by the UK government that all local authorities had their own local agenda 21 strategy, so in 2000 Hambleton District Council launched its first plan. The plan identifies sustainability issues and aims for the area and sets out prioritised actions to improve the quality of life and the state of the environment generally. Hambleton District Council developed the Local Agenda 21 Strategy and action plan with participation of the local community.
The strategy is currently under review with some of the community actions being transferred to the Community Plan and forming a new environmental policy.
