Green Travel Plan
As part of the work on Local Agenda 21, the Council has prepared a Green Travel Plan which aims to reduce the impact of travel on the environment. To consider what both the organisation and individuals can do to contribute to reducing car dependency and to make better planned journeys by travelling with other people.
The plan includes a variety of measures that taken together contribute to reducing emissions, reducing pollution and associated climate change.
- It encourages alternatives to the single occupancy vehicle (SOV)
- It promotes home-working and tele-conferencing
- It promotes a car share scheme
- It encourages cycling
- It outlines 'Green Driving' techniques
- It encourages us to walk more and reap the health benefits
- It is interested in public transport provision....and quite a bit more.....
The plan is an example of how other public, private, voluntary and community sector organisations here in Hambleton can also help to contribute to a cleaner environment, and a healthier lifestyle.
