Sandbags are ready

Sandbag stores are set up across Hambleton. Local residents have access to the stores in the event of a flooding emergency.

They are located in villages and town centres where flooding has been a problem in the past and where Council vehicles may have problems getting to in a hurry.

The Council's Emergency Control Room opens when bad weather conditions hit the district.

Sandbag stores have been located in the following points -

  • Northallerton Central Depot
  • Coxwold Rear of Pottery yard
  • Borrowby In front of Birchem
  • Dalton Jolly Farmers Pub
  • Great Ayton Grange Farm/Manor Farm
  • Great Langton Properties past Wishing Well Pub
  • Swainby Rear of Village Hall
  • Thirlby Thirlby Farm/Villa Farm
  • Topcliffe Toll Booth opposite The Angel Pub

 

Please note that availability at all of these sites cannot be guaranteed.


Residents can also prepare by collecting bags free of charge from the Council's depot in Darlington Road, Northallerton between 2 and 4pm Monday to Friday. Call 0845 1211 555 ,during office hours, to check availability .Businesses can collect bags for a small make up charge.

People are asked to keep any bags they already have dry in case of future emergencies.
