About the Parish

EasingwoldEasingwold is the most southerly of Hambleton's Market Towns, and is a perfect introduction to "Herriot Country".

Easingwold once stood in the middle of the Norman hunting preserve of the Forest of Galtres. The forest has long since gone but the distinctive name is still used in the town. Only 13 miles north of York, Easingwold was the first staging post on the road north and enjoyed great prosperity in the coaching era, boasting some 26 public houses and inns.
