-Policies and plans

Formed in 1974 as a result of local government reorganisation Hambleton District Council is based in the centre of North Yorkshire - in the market town of Northallerton. It has satellite offices in Stokesley and Easingwold as well as leisure facilities and the Thirsk Tourist Information Centre. It also runs the world famous visitor centre, The World of James Herriot.

The council is responsible for a wide range of services from collecting the rubbish and cleaning the streets to providing sandbags and swimming pools.

The Council has an obligation to plan ahead - and to make those plans and strategies available to the public.
