Place Survey 2009
The results of the 2009 Place Survey were officially published on June 23.
Thousands of householders all over the UK gave their views last September and October - 10,000 of them from North Yorkshire and 1200 from Hambleton.
Designed to capture people's views, perceptions and experiences of their home patch - the results will be used by local public services to make sure that their policies are producing the changes that people want.
Results can be broken down nationwide, countywide, district wide and parish wide to get a clear picture of how people feel about their area.
Overall results for the county show that 87% of people are satisfied or very satisfied with their local area compared with 86% two years ago and 79% for England as a whole.
As many as 92% and 90% of those over 65 are satisfied or very satisfied with their home as a place to live. And up to 81% feel that people from different backgrounds get on well in their area.
And concerns about anti-social behaviour have dropped with only 11% seeing this as a problem in their area compared to 24% two years ago.
Hambleton District Council is now analysing the results to ensure that any necessary actions can be taken - officers and members are working to identify local concerns and to then work with neighbourhoods to resolve them. The Local Strategic Partnership is also undertaking further detailed analysis of the data. The Area Forums will use the data to develop action and delivery plans and the themed Management Leadership Boards will look at the Corporate Plan to see how the results impact on current priorities and to set future targets in the refresh of the plan in 2010.
