  • A Government regime intended to drive up standards
  • It focuses on Performance Management as a means to achieving objectives
  • Council's must produce an annual plan - the Best Value Performance Plan - which sets out their objectives and targets (the Plan can be seen on the web site).
  • Council's must also review the way their services are working



Best Value looks at

  • Why services are being provided (Challenge)
  • What customers thinks about the service (Consultation)
  • How well the Council is performing compared to others (Comparison)
  • Whether the services can be delivered in a better way (Competition)
