Means enquiry reports
If you owe money to the council for any reason (fines, council tax arrears etc) you should contact the relevant department as soon as you can so the appropriate arrangements can be made BEFORE court action wherever possible.
Local Authorities are responsible for Means Enquiry Reports to provide information to the courts to inform their decisions on the appropriate level of any fine. It is a brief report for court on your current situation, setting out personal and financial circumstances. The court may ask for one where you have an outstanding fine or where you have missed payments towards it. The report covers your income and outgoings and provides a realistic plan for paying your fine or debt.
