Respect Program Backed
A new programme to ensure housing tenants live in safe neighbourhoods has received the backing of community safety chiefs.
The 'Respect Standard for Housing Management' outlines key commitments essential to combating anti-social behaviour and creating a culture of respect.
Broadacres Housing Association signed up to the Respect programme last month (April) pledging to continue to:
- tackle anti-social behaviour
- help victims and vulnerable people
- help reduce acquisitive crime (burglary and vehicle crime)
- improve neighbourhoods
"We are fully committed to ensuring that all our tenants enjoy a decent quality of life and will challenge anyone who has ideas otherwise. Working in partnership and with the support of the Police, Hambleton Community Safety Partnership and our tenants we are determined to stamp out anti-social behaviour," said Broadacres Managing Director, Steve Towers.
The Respect programme asks members to commit to:
- accountability, leadership and commitment
- empowering and reassuring residents
- prevention and early intervention
- providing support for victims and witnesses
- protecting communities through swift enforcement
- support to tackle the causes of anti-social behaviour
