Domestic burglary is very low in Hambleton, with house burglaries often caused by a small number of offenders.

Current work includes:

  • Doorstoppers 'Say no to doorstep callers' campaign
  • 'Cracking Crime' roadshows
  • 'Vale and Dale' security initiative providing locks and bolts and home surveys for repeat and vulnerable victims

Targets include:

  • Reducing domestic burglary by 18%
  • Reducing burglary other by 20%
  • Developing an improved victim support package with more agencies contributing services
  • Instigating more Architectural Liaison Officer surveys for larger business premises and public buildings

Doorstep Crime

Vehicle crime is also lower in Hambleton compared with the North Yorkshire average.

Current work includes:

  • Identification of prolific and persistent offenders and interventions to prevent Further crime
  • Targeted Police operations
  • Awareness raising amongst the general public on vehicle security

Targets include:

  • Reducing theft of vehicles by 20%
  • Reducing theft from vehicles by 17%
  • Detection of criminals travelling into Hambleton to commit crime
  • through inter-partnership co-operation eg the Tees Valley and South and
    West Yorkshire
  • Reducing rural vehicle crime through improved 'tracker' initiatives
