-School - holiday schemes

There are usually a range of fun activities for children and their families throughout the school holidays .

Hyper Holidays activities for 4 - 16 year olds are run during school holiday at each of the Councils four leisure centres. Sessions can last from one hour to all day and are run by ourselves or sometimes with help from our friends at various clubs, groups and venues. We use our facilities or those out in the community which can help us provide a fun and entertaining programme

More information about school holiday activities will be published as and when they are setup. These booklets are put together by Extended Services Cluster Coordinators who are linked to schools. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact your local Cluster Coordinator. Opens in a new window

The Council also runs a project called 'Aloud Outdoors' which is a shared Play Ranger service with Richmondshire District Council. The aim of the scheme is to bring adventurous play back and shake off the 'cotton wool' culture that cocoons youngsters today. Play is an essential part of a child's life and vital for their development - they need to explore the world around them to develop skills and expertise.

This scheme improves play opportunities for children (aged 5-11 years) living in rural communities. Play Rangers run approximately 60 play sessions a year across the two districts from October 2008 to September 2011. Activities include everything from den building and water slides to making mud pies and perfumes. The sessions use local facilities such as village halls, village greens and local playing fields.

Our next scheme is taking place in West Burton Opens in a new window during half term and the summer holidays. The scheme will also be visiting Catterick Village, Great Smeaton, Middleton, South Otterington and Helperby/Brafferton during the summer holidays. The locations are determined by the Hambleton and Richmondshire Play Partnerships based on where there is a lack of existing provision and the number of children living there. in yers one and two the scheme visited Barton, Brandsby, Catterick Village, Chopgate, Croft, Danby Wiske, Eppleby, Picton, Reeth, Sessay, Scorton, Snape and Scotton.
