Comprehensive Area Assessment Self Evaluation

The Hambleton Strategic Partnership recognised the need to influence the development of the Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) framework from a District level perspective and agreed to be a pilot in developing a Self Evaluation, one of only 2 District LSP's nationally.

Under CAA in 2 tier areas the Area Assessment will take place at a County level, however it is important that local level information is effectively reflected in the assessment in order to tell the 'story of the place' in the respect of :

  • engaging with and understanding local needs
  • delivery of improvements and outcomes in the area
  • gap analysis and planning for the future

In October 2008 the LSP prepared the Hambleton LSP CAA Self Evaluation and Executive Summary. This was subject to a Peer Challenge in April 2009, led by the IDeA which provided a Peer Challenge Feedback Report to the LSP with areas for consideration. An Improvement Plan in currently being developed to incorporate feedback from the self evaluation and peer challenge work.

Hambleton LSP have also developed a learning tool to capture some key learning points from their experience of preparing for CAA as an LSP within a two tier area.
