Yorkshire Forward

Yorkshire Forward, the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Development Agency, was created in April 1999 with the mission of revitalising the region's economy.

We are involved in many aspects of the region's economy - attracting inward investment and jobs into the region, funding community based regeneration schemes to ensure opportunities for Yorkshire and Humber's most deprived areas, increasing the availability of training for the region's workforce and promoting the whole region to the nation are just some of the things we do.

All the work we do specifically delivers objectives that have been set by the region, for it's own regeneration by the year 2010. These objectives form the Regional Economic Strategy for Yorkshire and Humber, and we regularly measure how we are delivering against them.

We were created from five organisations - Yorkshire and Humberside Development Agency, Regional activities of English Partnerships, Regional Supply Network, Regional activities of Government Office for Yorkshire and Humber and the Rural Development Commission, giving us staff who are experienced in all aspects of what we are delivering to the region in offices across the region. Our Board is business-led and includes representatives from a range of private, public and voluntary sectors across the region.

Yorkshire Forward is continually evolving towards being a world-class organisation delivering a world-class region and after less than one year in existence was already being hailed as the "Most useful institution in the region" in Yorkshire Business Insider Magazine - January 2000

We have pledged to specifically focus on our customers and to be a values led organisation. Our professional approach to working with others means we keep promises, are open and honest, respect diversity and enjoy our work.
