Business Rates - Account Enquiries
Good News for Small Businesses
Following an announcement by the Chancellor in his budget statement of 24 March 2010 many businesses will pay substantially less business rates for a 1 year period from 01 October 2010 to 30 September 2011.
All ratepayers who currently receive Small Business Rates Relief will be better off for this period. Any eligible ratepayers with properties that have a rateable value of up to £6,000 will pay no rates for this period, where currently they pay 50%. Any eligible ratepayers with properties that have a rateable value of between £6,001 and £12,000 will receive relief on a tapered scheme of between 100% and 0% (at £12,000), where currently the taper is between 50% and 0%.
The Council will be writing to all affected ratepayers in the near future giving more details of the scheme.
Hambleton District Council arranges for the billing and collection of Business Rates (sometimes known as National Non-Domestic Rates or NNDR) on behalf of the Government.
