Voluntary Youth Organisations

The Purpose of the Scheme
Application are invited from youth organisations that actively promote opportunities for young people in
accordance with the principles of the Community Education Service.

Who Can Apply?
Any voluntary youth organisation registered with one of North Yorkshire County Councils District Community Education Committees in Hambleton.

Eligible Projects

  • Capital items of equipment
  • Capital improvements to youth club facilities
  • Improvements for comply with parliamentary legislation
  • Provision of new facilities

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that the new equipment/project will have a long term benefit to the youth organisation.
Where demand outstrips supply, priority will be given to applicants which encourage active participation in a leisure activity.

Grants Available
New build - limited to 25% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum of 5,000
Improvements - limited to 25% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum of 3,000 in any 2 year period
Applicants will be expected to provide a minimum of 10% of the total cost from their own funds

How to Apply
Firstly, contact your Local District Community Education Manager (contacts overleaf). He/she will advise you on whether your project is eligible for a grant from Hambleton District Council and also whether it qualifies for a North Yorkshire Community Education Service grant. If your application qualifies for a grant from either of these sources you will be given the appropriate application form(s) which should be completed and submitted to the District Community Education Manager, together with the following support information:

  • A minimum of two quotations
  • Constitution of applicant
  • The last annual accounts (two years)
  • Confirmation of any statutory approvals required, eg. planning permission
  • Plans of existing and proposed work (if appropriate)


What happens next?
The District Education Manager Will arrange for your application to be considered by the District Community Education Committee and Hambleton District Council at the next available cycle of meetings. Advice as to the dates of Committee Meetings will be given by the District Community Education Manager.
