Renovation grants
Grants for Historic Environments
The purpose of these grants is to provide grant aid towards "public realm" schemes which preserve or enhance the character or appearance of conservation areas and listed buildings.
Market Towns Grant Scheme 2009/10
The Market Towns Grant scheme is available for previously identified buildings of historic value within the Market Towns of Bedale, Easingwold, Stokesley and Thirsk, to assist in their repair and maintenance. The scheme is also available for works of environmental enhancement, such as the repair of cobbled areas and the reinstatement of traditional features.
Grants of up to 50% are available towards the repair of buildings and up to 60% towards works of environmental enhancement, including fees for approved professional services, but excluding VAT.
Types of work qualifying for grant;
- General structural repair
- Repairs to structural timbers
- Reinstatement after repair
- Reproofing and chimney repair
- Leadwork and rainwater goods
- Brickwork and stonework repair
- Repairs to windows and doors, etc
- Repairs to render
- Reinstatement of architectural features
The following types of environmental enhancement are also eligible;
- - The repair of existing cobbled areas or the reinstatement of such paving
- - The repair of boundary walls and railings
